Theme:

  • In May 2020, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 20 lakh crore rupees economic stimulus package named ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan‘, with the slogan ‘Vocal for Local‘.
  • It was announced with the aim to make India self-reliant and also to provide a stimulus for the economy that was hit badly by COVID-19. This package is estimated to be 10% of GDP.
  • While announcing this package, Prime Minister said that this package focuses on land, labour, liquidity & laws. He also mentioned that this will benefit labourers, farmers, honest taxpayers, MSMEs & cottage industry.

Benefits:

  • Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan package aimed to make local products global and thereby helps Indian companies in competing in the global supply chains.
  • This package allowed collateral-free loans to Medium, Small, Micro Enterprises (MSME) with a turnover of up to 100 crore rupees. In general, banks do not prefer giving loans to MSMEs due to fear of non-repayment. COVID-19 pandemic affected this sector badly. So, this package will help MSMEs very much. They can pay wages, buy raw goods with the money and so can run their businesses. Around 45 lakh companies will be benefited by these loans. Approximately 11 crore people are employed through MSMEs in India. So, their jobs can be saved.
  • Structural reforms and marketing reforms in agriculture are promised. 30,000 crore rupees to small farmers through Kisan credit cards, 20,000 crore rupees to the welfare of fishermen, 13,000 crore rupees for vaccination to livestock, 1 lakh crore rupees for Agriculture co-operative societies & Farmer producer organisations, funding to post-harvest management is also mentioned – agriculture and allied sectors will be benefited.
  • Space exploration to be opened for the private sector. This will benefit the Indian space industry.
  • Rs. 30,000 crores special liquidity facility is announced for stressed Non-banking Finance Companies (NBFCs).
  • Rs. 90,000 crores liquidity plan is announced to provide loans for power discoms.
  • Migrants workers are the worst hit during COVID-19 lockdown in India. So, free food supply to migrants is promised. ‘One Nation – One Card‘ was launched, which allows people to take ration from anywhere in India.
  • Shelter will be provided to migrants by the government.
  • 5000 crore rupees credit facility is provided for street vendors.
  • Additional 40,000 crore rupees were allotted for MGNREGA to provide employment to the returned migrants.
  • More health institutions & labs will be established.

Criticism:

  • The main criticism for Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan package is – it is very similar to ‘Make in India’. Critics argue that a different name is given to the same scheme.
  • Most of these fundings are allotted just like a normal budget. So, including them in a special package has attracted criticism.
  • Many sectors are opened to private players.
  • There is no mention of research & development, which is very important to take important steps in revival of the economy.
  • Companies of other countries may perceive this as a protectionist policy.  They may feel apprehensive to invest in India.
  • This package may not be sufficient in reviving the economy.
  • Urban employment is ignored.

Conclusion:

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, trade of goods and migration of people got disrupted and as a result, many countries started preparing for the future pandemics by diversifying supply chains and making themselves self-sufficient. So, Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is very much needed for India to transform itself into a self-reliant country. But this may not be sufficient to revive the economy and to rebuild livelihoods that are affected by the pandemic.

THIS is really a great program initiated as atmnirbhar bharatv by our honorable pm narendar modi. i think we really need to be dependent in every sector because if such type of pandemic are coming in the future than no one going to help us even developed country like america became helpless due to covid pandemic we need to use this 20 lakh crore package to stregthen our economy and to creates a lot of opportunity in every sector but this package should have to come in the ground level and we need to do bounce back with a rapid growth in economy .

I don’t adhere with your point there,i think this is a scheme which screams out big things but on ground reality its benefits are gonna be negligible. Many schemes launched in the 20000 crore package is from last year’s union budget which is just included in this, other schemes such as liquidity increasing, helping small vendors, farmers stimulus are all somewhere linked to loans and credit which Especially in current situation ain’t gonna help the economy as it doesn’t completely take pressure off of consumers and increase consumption. If you look at the schemes such as epf and tds reduction its basically is the amount which belongs to you which you gonna recive in future and lowering that rate and showing thats this money is offered by government is kind of redculous.many big financial analysing institutions have called this stimulus 1% of the gdp not 10 as it effectively comes out just 1%, though there are some good things like one nation-one card ,free ration supplies to migrants and manrega scheme for labour sector but all in all its a bane rather than a boon as more direct investment from government was needed so that consumer has more disposable income which will increase consumption and help in getting the economy some recovery.

Yes I agree with you my friend, but nowadays selling any products it is very competitive market, those are small trader it is very difficult to compete with large trader, I e small trader after sometimes they are not able to continue their business. Nowadays shopping mall culture has been started people does not want to go to small shop rather they like to go to shopping malls. Big business man eat up the small trader.

It does not mean of Aatm nirbhar bharat abhiyan that we are banned Chinese and other countries goods but its means that we should improve our goods quality and become them chepist so our people should be bought our goods and avoid foreigner goods.

It helps to boost our economy and become us self dependent.

Aatmnirbhr bharat abhiyan started with slogan of local for vocal. In this campaign mostly our small workers are focused.

u.p has also initiated the Aatma nirbhar Bharat by adopting the one district one product and now some of the Districts of India have also been recognized by central government to internationalize the product. It will help the farmers to get financial assistance as well as other help to promote the farm product and will make the farmers self reliant

According to me “ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT” with slogan”VOCAL FOR LOCAL” was the need of the hour to save the economy of our country. Its result may be seen later but by the idea it was implemented,on the time it was implemented and on the scale it was implemented it would surely be a good decision only if its execution would be done on ground level.during pandemic every country’s economy was badly affected .either they stooped their export or they sent it on a high price .this was espeially a case of china and india when india was firstly lacking of ppe kits and it asked from china and the latter refused to sent any.it was the seed leading to the growyh of atmanirbhar bharat.then india analysed the every year country like china earn billion bcoz of thier imports in india while in return they are importing almost half giving net profit to those country.from steel of automobile to crackers of diwali we were importing everything from china leaving our own MSME’s degraded.then in the month of may it was proclaimed that india would try to become self reliant giving exposure to local business .improving employment and giving huge boost to our economy.and in some days india became second largest producer of ppe

According to me prime minister announced Atma Nurbhar Bharat – it’s a very good proposal. In this pandemic situation supply chain has been broken and esp. in India refused China product and all import has been stopped . Yes self reliant is good, in this pandemic situation many people they get jobless as a result they can start their small business but it needs capital . Govt has to provide loan with a minimum interest . Besides this we used to import China product its costs were less but in India people start production it will be costly. In this situation many peoples run out of money then who will purchase the product. But in this pandemic people doesn’t have any choice , they want or don’t want they have to do something. Dso blessings comes in disguise. First of all people they have to take risk. Hard work is the key of success . Thry work hard then they will achieve the goal.
